We understand that plans can change. Our cancellation policy is designed to be fair and transparent, while allowing us to manage guide availability, permits, accommodation, logistics, and safety planning responsibly.
• Cancel 24 hours or more before the scheduled start time → Full refund
• Cancel less than 24 hours before the start time or no-show → No refund
Refunds for direct bookings may exclude third-party payment or processing fees.
Early communication significantly increases the likelihood of alternative options being considered.
If you are feeling unwell, injured, or not fit to participate, we strongly encourage you not to attend the hike for your own safety and the safety of others.
Attending while unwell may impact the safety and enjoyment of the group and is discouraged.
• For safety and group wellbeing, the guide may adjust plans or advise against participation if concerns arise on the day.
• These decisions are always made with care and experience, and in the best interest of all guests.
Being unable to participate on the day does not automatically entitle a guest to a refund.
We recognise that illness can arise unexpectedly.
• Cancellations due to illness within 24 hours of the hike are reviewed case by case
• Refunds, credits, or reschedules are not guaranteed and remain at the discretion of Lekker Hike
• Supporting documentation, such as a medical certificate, may be requested, but does not automatically guarantee a refund.
We understand that genuine emergencies can occur.
• Guests are encouraged to contact us as soon as possible in the event of a serious family emergency
• Each situation is assessed individually
• Exceptional circumstances typically refer to serious, unforeseen events outside a guest’s control
Where appropriate, Lekker Hike may offer:
• a refund (less applicable fees), or
• a reschedule, or
• a credit
Any goodwill outcome remains at the discretion of Lekker Hike. Any goodwill refund, reschedule, or credit is considered a once-off gesture and does not set a precedent for future bookings.
Bespoke hikes require additional planning, permits, guide allocation, and advance preparation.
• These hikes have their own cancellation timelines and conditions
• Cancellation terms will be clearly communicated during the enquiry and booking process
• This is due to upfront costs, accommodation, permits, and logistics incurred in advance
While the principles outlined in this policy apply, bespoke bookings are governed by the specific cancellation terms provided for that experience.
Multi-day and overnight hikes involve accommodation bookings, permits, transport coordination, and non-recoverable costs.
• Each multi-day experience has its own cancellation policy
• These terms will be shared in writing before payment is requested
• Refund eligibility varies depending on timing and third-party commitments
The general principles of fairness, discretion, and safety outlined here remain consistent across all experiences.
Where a credit is issued:
• Credits are valid for 3 months from the original hike date
• Credits may be transferable upon request
• Credits have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for refunds
Any goodwill refund, reschedule, or credit is considered a once-off gesture and does not set a precedent for future bookings.
• Failure to attend the hike, or communication received after the scheduled start time, is considered a no-show
• No refunds, credits, or reschedules are offered for no-shows
• Lack of signal, phone battery issues, or missed messages do not constitute grounds for refund.
• Hikes continue in light rain, wind, or overcast conditions
• Discomfort due to weather does not constitute unsafe conditions
• Once a hike has commenced, partial participation or early withdrawal does not qualify for refunds or credits.
Bookings made via third-party platforms are subject to the platform’s own cancellation and refund policies. Lekker Hike cannot override external platform terms.
