What to Expect on the Crystal Pools Hiking Trail

This guided hike is moderately challenging, with rocky terrain, some steeper sections, and refreshing swim stops along the way. It’s ideal for fit hikers looking for a mix of scenery and adventure.

Trail Details:

  • Distance: ± 4–5 km return

  • Duration: 4–6 hours (with swim and snack breaks)

  • Max Elevation: ± 330 m

  • Difficulty: Moderate (suitable for fit hikers)

  • Group Size: Maximum 10 people (permit rule) including guide.

  • Season: Open November to April only (closed in winter)

What Should I Bring?

  • 2 to 3 liters of water

Where Do We Meet?

The Crystal Pools trailhead is just past Gordon’s Bay along the R44 coastal road towards Rooi-Els. You’ll find parking on the roadside near the white bridge and wooden hut that marks the start of the trail.

If the weather is unsafe (e.g. wind, storm), we’ll:

  • Reschedule your hike

  • Or offer a full refund (for direct bookings)
